Unfortunately, not all drums line up from the drum rack through the Superior Drummer by default. Now if C1 happens to line up the the "Kick" drum on Superior Drummer, then that drum is done. Show the Key Zone Editor in the MIDI Effects Rack and select the right zone for each pad ("Kick" is set to only C1 and "Snare is set to only D1). In the MIDI Effect Rack, you'll create the chains again for each pad you plan to use "Kick", "Snare", etc. Drag a MIDI Effect Rack before the VST device. Select "Show/Hide Devices" to Show and click on Superior Drummer VST. In Chain List, create Chains to name each pad (like "Kick" on C1, "Snare" on D1, etc.). Show Chain List and Input/Output Selection on Drum Rack and change Receive from that pad to "All Notes" at top of drop down list box. I could have used Superior Drummer to remap the drums, but some other drum VSTs might not have that option. But then you'd be using an extra Instrument Rack for no good reason. This way you could do the remapping in a similar way with a MIDI Effect rack. You could also place the VST and Drum Rack onto an Instrument Rack. I don't like this because you have to create a whole bunch of tracks that clutter up the work area (I don't like it even if they are grouped). The only thing I don't like about it is if you manually click on a drum rack pad, it doesn't make any sound.Īnother method is to have the VST on a track, then route from the drum rack through the track. This method uses Ableton to remap the drums all inside the drum rack and is a more generic solution.
